Right Web: Exposing the Architecture of Power That's Changing Our World

Right Web, founded in 2003, is a program of the International Relations Center (IRC) that monitors the efforts of individuals, organizations, and governments to promote hardline foreign and defense policies with a special focus on the "war on terror." With forces both in and out of government pushing for military interventions in hotspots from the Middle East to South Asia to the Horn of Africa, a key item on Right Web's agenda is to track the discourse of political actors who advocate aggressive U.S. security strategies abroad, detailing their backgrounds, institutional allegiances, and ideological connections. By establishing Right Web, the IRC aims to foster informed public debate about the direction these forces are taking both the United States and the world.

Many of the organizations and individuals profiled by Right Web are affiliated with the Republican Party, but not all. Efforts to push militaristic policies cross party lines, and so the Right Web project examines rightist organizations and figures, as well as leading liberal hawks. Reporters, researchers, and analysts have come to rely on Right Web for its well-documented research and analysis provided in the form of hundreds of dossiers, policy reports, op-eds, and news commentaries.

The IRC has worked for nearly three decades to illuminate the causes and consequences of U.S. policy and "to make the United States a more responsible global leader and global partner." Right Web represents a revival of a former IRC program called GroupWatch (1985-1991), which profiled more than 125 private, quasi-governmental, and religious organizations that were closely associated with the implementation of U.S. foreign policy, especially in Central America.

Bush Administration Eases Export Technology Restrictions to China

WASHINGTON — Six months ago, the Bush administration quietly eased some restrictions on the export of sensitive technologies to China. The new approach was intended to help American companies increase sales of high-tech equipment to China despite tight curbs on sharing technology that might have military applications.

But today the administration is facing questions from weapons experts about whether some equipment — newly authorized for export to Chinese companies deemed trustworthy by Washington — could instead end up helping China modernize its military. Equally worrisome, the weapons experts say, is the possibility that China could share the technology with Iran or Syria.

What's on Your Dinner Plate? Genetically Engineered Foods

The American public is not being told enough about genetically engineered (GE) and genetically engineered and modified (GEmo) food that is on U.S. grocery shelves for consumer consumption. This includes everything from products in your breakfast cereal to fresh vegetables to what the cows are being fed that provide the milk that you are drinking.

In fact, genetically engineered and modified foods ARE NOT labeled in the United States because consumers stated that they would not buy foods that were GE or GEmo if so labeled. So the product is not labeled! YOU ARE BEING DECEIVED AND LIED TO YET AGAIN!

You need to learn more about GE/GEmo because this stuff is on and has been on U.S. grocery shelves for several years - without your consent and knowledge! Like the U.S. Government needs that any more...

>You need to understand what GE and GEmo foods are all about.
- The dangers to you and your family.
- The dangers to the environment.
- The problems being caused to local farmers by corporations and GE/GEmo.

>Know which corporations are NOT selling GE and GEmo foods so you can support them and eat healthy food products.

The USA's RQ/MQ-8 Fire Scout Unmanned Aerial Vehicle has had a colorful history. The program was begun with promise by the US Navy, canceled, adopted by the US Army, and finally revived by the Navy as well. A competition in 2008-2010 may even see it used by the US Marines. The MQ-8B Fire Scout is currently linked with two major new defense programs: the Future Combat Systems program and the USA's new Littoral Combat Ships (LCS).

Fire Scout-related awards to Northrop Grumman and Raytheon have been quite varied. DID lists them, along with budgetary figures from official DoD documents, and also explains the Fire Scout's history and capabilities. The latest developments include a minor contract, and interesting transportability demonstration, and program updates and budget updates for FY 2008 and beyond….

Is the CIA trying to undermine the White House?

Phyllis Bennis interviewed by Paul Jay
The Real News Network, 19 December 2007

The US intelligence report saying that Iran had halted a nuclear weapons programme in 2003 is an important document. It does not prohibit the US military attack on Iran, but it may serve to deny the Bush administration enough public support in the US, or the diplomatic support from any other country, to go ahead with it, argues Phyllis Bennis in this video interview.

Police Academy Class Slogan: Cause PTSD

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A state police academy leader has disavowed the slogan of the most recent graduating class urging one another to "go out and cause" post-traumatic stress disorder.

Each class at the Idaho Police Officer Standards and Training Academy is allowed to choose a slogan that is printed on its graduation programs, and the class of 43 graduates came up with "Don't suffer from PTSD, go out and cause it."

According to the Veterans Association, tens of thousands of U.S. soldiers suffer from PTSD, which causes nightmares, flashbacks and physical symptoms that make sufferers feel as if they are reliving trauma, even many years later. Crime, accidents and other trauma can cause it in civilians.

Ada County Sheriff Gary Raney, who attended the Dec. 14 graduation, pointed out the slogan to the academy's director, Jeff Black, minutes before the ceremony began, Raney said. A photograph of the program was e-mailed anonymously to news outlets throughout the state.

"That's not something we encourage or condone," Black said. "It shouldn't have been there. It was inappropriate."

Black said the class president was ex-military, and that the slogan "slipped in." He declined to identify the graduate. Black said future slogans would be vetted by academy leaders.

Genocide in Iraq Continues; Now Aided by U.S.

As we are asked to spend trillions more on the 'war on terror' (which is to say the war on the people of this whole world and no one [except the elitist] is exempt) where does all the money go?? It must be going straight to the elitist bank accounts, to their stocks in all the companies that are bankrolling this horrendous trumped up affair.

IRAQ: Saddam Provided More Food Than the U.S.
By Ahmed Ali and Dahr Jamail

BAQUBA, Dec 27 (IPS) - The Iraqi government announcement that monthly food rations will be cut by half has left many Iraqis asking how they can survive.

The government also wants to reduce the number of people depending on the rationing system by five million by June 2008.

Iraq's food rations system was introduced by the Saddam Hussein government in 1991 in response to the UN economic sanctions. Families were allotted basic foodstuffs monthly because the Iraqi Dinar and the economy collapsed.

The sanctions, imposed after Saddam Hussein ordered the invasion of Kuwait, were described as "genocidal" by Denis Halliday, then UN humanitarian coordinator in Iraq. Halliday quit his post in protest against the U.S.-backed sanctions.

The sanctions killed half a million Iraqi children, and as many adults, according to the UN. They brought malnutrition, disease, and lack of medicines. Iraqis became nearly completely reliant on food rations for survival. The programme has continued into the U.S.-led occupation.

But now the U.S.-backed Iraqi government has announced it will halve the essential items in the ration because of "insufficient funds and spiralling inflation."

If Doctors Could Edit the Newspapers...

The crises in our world are great and the Doctors Without Frontiers/Borders work tirelessly to battle disease, famine and genocide against ever surmounting odds. This article focuses on some of those areas that they struggle to bring medical help - Columbia, Sri Lanka, Somalia, Burma, Chechnya, Zimbabwe, the Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of Congo - and the malnutrition and tuberculosis that they see every day.

From The Independent
10 humanitarian crises forgotten (but not gone)

If doctors edited newspapers... The frontline physicians at Médecins Sans Frontières have chosen the 10 humanitarian crises that should have been given more coverage in 2007.

Colombia

While the cocaine trade regularly features in the headlines, little attention is devoted to the scale of the internal refugee crisis. After four decades of civil conflict that has evolved from a war of political ideologies to a struggle for territory and control over the narcotics trade, large numbers of Colombians live in areas controlled by militia or guerrillas. With basic human rights under threat and unpredictable violence endemic in many rural areas, millions have fled to the shantytowns – or barrios – that ring every major town. Nearly four million people live in these insecure settlements cut off from basic state services such as mains electricity, water and health care. In the endless slums that now choke the capital, Bogota, areas are divided up and fought over by the same paramilitaries and left-wing rebels that blight and dominate the countryside.

Sri Lanka

After a quarter of a century of fighting, this year will be remembered among the bloodiest in Sri Lankan history. The civil war between the government forces and the separatist Tamil Tigers flared back into life last year and has kept worsening. International efforts to resolve the conflict have made no headway as key figures on both sides appear to have decided that a military solution is possible. Targeted bombings, mine attacks, suicide bombings, abductions, recruitment of child soldiers have all followed. The civilian toll in a country already flattened by the 2004 tsunami has been horrendous. Hundreds of thousands of people in need of humanitarian aid have been forced to flee to makeshift camps and the situation has been compounded by a climate of hostility and suspicion towards aid agencies. MSF is among the few agencies still operating in frontline areas, such as Point Pedro and Vavuniya, where doctors are desperately needed.

Privatization Will be the Death of Us

We read more and more about the privatization of services - fire, police, electric, phone, sewage, and water. As the elitists drain the middle class pocketbook we become more reliant on charging on credit cards what we need to survive day-to-day. It became painfully obviously one day to me when just driving around I saw a bank that was advertising loans for groceries and gasoline. We need to wake up and fight back!

Here is another article on the government's steady march on to privatization, of water in this case, and how President Bush still insists that all these services should be paid for by the citizens of this country.

Turning Water into Gold

December 26, 2007
Author:

Though it's getting drenched this week (AJC), the city of Atlanta, Georgia, is running out of water (CNN). The city has suffered from an ongoing drought, but officials also now admit their failure to act (LAT) on warnings of environmentalists and federal officials amid “years of recent explosive growth.” Facing a problem of emergency proportions, Atlanta has earmarked $4 billion to upgrade water infrastructure, including water capacity. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution tracks the city's efforts to cope with the drought on its website.

Atlanta is not alone in its water problems (Economist). In a recent interview with CFR.org, former Environmental Protection Agency chief Christine Todd Whitman said the United States needs to invest up to a trillion dollars for water infrastructure. The Bush administration believes U.S. drinking and wastewater projects should use private bonds (PDF). Water issues are among the few major policy victories the Democratic Congress has over the Bush administration. An example is last week’s decision to override a presidential veto (Times-Picayune) of the FY2008 bill funding U.S. flood control project. The water problem is becoming so urgent that communities, such Orange County, California, now look to recycled sewage (NYT) for drinking water.

Israel Must Change its Policies in Ending the Isolation of the People of Gaza

Oxfam Press Release - December 2007

For aid to be effective, donors need to insist Israel changes its policies towards occupied Palestinian Territories

For aid to be effective, donors need to insist Israel changes its policies towards occupied Palestinian Territories Millions of dollars of aid is being lost due to Israeli policies towards the occupied Palestinian territories and must be challenged by donor governments meeting in Paris to pledge funds for the Palestinian Authority this Monday, according to aid agency Oxfam International.

Jeremy Hobbs, head of Oxfam International, said: “More aid will not be effective until donor governments insist on a rapid change in Israel’s movement restrictions in the occupied Palestinian territories and the ending of the blockade of the Gaza Strip. Many governments around the world are generous donors to the Palestinians. Their aid is vital to help build the Palestinian economy and a viable state. But donor governments are not sufficiently critical of Israeli policies, which wreck the projects they fund. They are investing precious aid funds, but without holding Israel accountable this aid will be more and more ineffective.

“It is not enough simply to plough more money into Palestine – foreign governments and the Palestinian Authority must increase the pressure on the Israeli government to lift the blockade of Gaza and make it possible for people in the West Bank to go about their business. This is essential if the Annapolis peace process is to work."

U.S. Senate Report: Over 400 Prominent Scientists Disputed Man-Made Global Warming Claims in 2007

Senate Report Debunks "Consensus"

Complete U.S. Senate Report Now Available: (LINK)

Complete Report w/out Intro: (LINK)

Update: Former Vice President Al Gore responds to Senate report within hours of release. (LINK)

INTRODUCTION:

Over 400 prominent scientists from more than two dozen countries recently voiced significant objections to major aspects of the so-called "consensus" on man-made global warming. These scientists, many of whom are current and former participants in the UN IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), criticized the climate claims made by the UN IPCC and former Vice President Al Gore.

The new report issued by the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee’s office of the GOP Ranking Member details the views of the scientists, the overwhelming majority of whom spoke out in 2007.

Even some in the establishment media now appear to be taking notice of the growing number of skeptical scientists. In October, the Washington Post Staff Writer Juliet Eilperin conceded the obvious, writing that climate skeptics "appear to be expanding rather than shrinking." Many scientists from around the world have dubbed 2007 as the year man-made global warming fears “bite the dust.” (LINK) In addition, many scientists who are also progressive environmentalists believe climate fear promotion has "co-opted" the green movement. It IS Important to Keep Speaking Out and Asking for Truth

If you don't read George Washington's Blog you should there are many good well-written articles to be found. Here is the latest:

Each of our Individual Voices Is More Important Than We've Realized

I've previously written about the importance of 9/11 polls, as most people follow the herd. In other words, since polls show that the majority of people doubt the government's version of 9/11, citing the polls is very important in convincing people who are not yet aware that the official explanation makes no sense.

Well, I just read a study which says that even one dissenting voice can give people permission to think for themselves. Specifically:
Solomon Asch, with experiments originally carried out in the 1950s and well-replicated since, highlighted a phenomenon now known as "conformity". In the classic experiment, a subject sees a puzzle like the one in the nearby diagram: Which of the lines A, B, and C is the same size as the line X? Take a moment to determine your own answer...

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: UNITED 93 DATA PROVIDED BY US GOVERNMENT DOES NOT SUPPORT OBSERVED EVENTS

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PILOTS FOR 9/11 TRUTH

UNITED 93 DATA PROVIDED BY US GOVERNMENT DOES NOT SUPPORT OBSERVED EVENTS

Pilots for 9/11 Truth, an international organization of pilots and aviation professionals, petitioned the National Transportation and Safety Board (NTSB) via the Freedom of Information Act to obtain United Flight 93 Flight Data Recorder information, consisting of a Comma Separated Value (CSV) file and Flight Path Animation, allegedly derived from Flight 93 Flight Data Recorder (FDR). The data provided by the NTSB contradict observed events in several significant ways:

  1. The NTSB Flight Path Animation approach path and altitude does not support observations.
  2. All Altitude data on the northern approach contradicts witnesses published by the New York Times.
  3. Witness observations of approach path contradict northern approach as described by Popular Mechanics and the US Govt. Several witnesses observed the aircraft approaching from southeast over Indian Lake and from the south prior to witnessing explosion. Parts found in New Baltimore, 8 miles southeast of crater is a direct contradiction to the northern approach claimed by the US Govt.
  4. Environmental Protection Agency reports no soil contamination of jet fuel after testing 5,000-6,000 yards of earth including 3 ground wells. Smoke plume photographed by a witness does not suggest a jet fuel rich explosion.
  5. Impact angle according to Flight Data Recorder does not support an almost vertical impact as the govt story and crater suggests.

In May, 2007, members of Pilots for 9/11 Truth received these documents from the NTSB and began a close analysis of the data they contain. After expert review and cross check, Pilots for 9/11 Truth has concluded that the information in these NTSB documents does not support, and in some instances factually contradicts, the official government position that United Airlines Flight 93 created the impact crater as reported, in Somerset County, PA on the morning of September 11, 2001 .According to the US Govt, United Airlines Flight 93 approached Somerset County from the North-Northwest at a high altitude on the morning of September 11, 200 1 . However, many witnesses contradict altitude as well as approach path. Also according to reports, and as the impact crater suggests, United Airlines Flight 93 impacted terrain at an almost vertical 90 degree angle, while the Flight Data Recorder shows a 35 degree angle with up-sloping terrain, further reducing impact angle.

The information provided by the US Government does not support reports of United Airlines Flight 93 approach, impact angles, and lack of jet fuel at Somerset Country, PA.

Pilots for 9/11 Truth is committed to discovering the truth surrounding the events of September 11, 2001 . We have contacted both the NTSB and the FBI regarding these and other inconsistencies. To date, they have refused to comment on, correct, refute, retract or offer side-letters that might explain the discrepancies between what they claim are the data extracted from the FDR of United Flight 93 and the events observed. .As concerned citizens and professionals in the aviation industry, Pilots for 9/11 Truth asks, why have these discrepancies not been addressed by agencies within the United States Government? Pilots for 9/11 Truth takes the position that an official government inquiry into these discrepancies is warranted and long overdue. We call upon our fellow citizens to write to their Congressional representatives to inform them of these discrepancies and call for an immediate investigation into this matter. Video: Message From A Neighbor?

The YouTube subscriber posted this comment:

September 06, 2007 I was in the "Mall of Georgia" today shopping, and this odd man came out of no where and gave me this DVD... I don't know why he picked me and Im not sure if this is real...But it's very thought provoking and I think we should all take his advice and research this subject a little better ! I must add that he did explain that he edited the message to narrow his point as well as filtering the video to make it more asthetically pleasing to watch...Maybe its not who he really is that matters, but what he is saying that does?

As I've said positive thinking and belief in God can help us... It's not too late.

This post keeps being disabled so I'm reposting it again.
